As a young man I had the opportunity to meet and learn from Frank Zeidler, past mayor of the city I was born and grew up in, and one who was proudly Socialist.

I have carried on the progressive values that were passed on to me by Mayor Zeidler and so many others of his generation to this day. I'm happy to have met and to have known him. He was a great man.

As a longtime member of the Iowa Socialist Party I had the opportunity to meet Frank Zeidler on a few occasions. He was always helpful and an amazing source of information about Socialist history and the politics of the times. He was extremely generous with his time.

I look forward to reading “A Liberal in City Government.” I’m confident it will be as interesting and enlightening as his many articles for SP-USA publications, the ‘Iowa Idea’ and the “Hammer and Tongs.”

With Frank Zeidler’s passing we lose a man who was truly a man of the people.

I was happy to finally see Frank Zeidler's memoirs on his 12 year term as Milwaukee's mayor in print.

The forgotten history from this era will be an invaluable resource for historian and researchers. Frank's accomplishments in Milwaukee during the heart of the McCarthy era have proven that there is a working model for democratic socialism in the improvement of the lives of citizens.

I just got and am excited about reading Frank Zeidler's book. He is one of the few inspirational leaders in modern American history. Frank Zeidler walks the walk. I still remember looking forward to his insightful, interesting and down-to-earth articles in the old Hammer and Tongs of the SP. And just about anybody who knows Frank wants to know what he's reading.

I have written Frank P. Zeidler for years and finally met him at the Chicago Convention in 2003.

Frank is an inspiration to all potential Socialist and Liberal candidates for office.

We think much alike on the issues. I think the Co-operative Commonwealth is the crux of Democratic Socialism.

As I am running for Governor of New Jersey, every Socialist Party USA candidate would love to emulate Frank P. Zeidler.
